Dental Implants Options
It is generally agreed upon among dentists that dental implants provide the most effective replacement option for a missing tooth or teeth. It is also agreed upon that dental implants offer the most options for replacing teeth.
For a single missing tooth, a single dental implant is able to restore much of the look, feel, and functionality of the missing tooth. Single dental implants are placed directly into the jaw bone below where the missing tooth was located. When it fuses with the jaw bone, the dental implant will keep the bone stimulated and help to prevent any further bone loss from occurring.
If you are missing several teeth that were located right next to each other, the placement of an implant-supported fixed bridge is a great solution. The idea is very similar to a regular dental bridge, but because there are no adjacent teeth to act as abutments for the crowns, the crowns are supported through the placement of implants. A pontic will still be used in the center of the bridge.
For those patients missing all of their teeth, implants are able to support a fixed bridge or a removable overdenture. Implant-supported dentures are much more comfortable and easier to manage than traditional dentures. In many cases, mini dental implants can be used instead to support the false teeth. Some benefits of mini dental implants are that they are usually cheaper than traditional implants, and they also require a far less invasive placement procedure.
